![]() I will take the TV off the wall and attach a hard drive so the wife can pause, rewind etc and hook the skybox back up for watching Freeview and she then has options for recording and watching another channel. I think a trip to the tip is in order and put this box where it belongs. As soon as I got it connected using a sky WiFi adapter it updated the software and now I have a much darker screen and is clearer and brighter using the TV tuner. Initially I tried it without it being connected to the internet and it seemed fine. ![]() It's slow, the remote needs a hard press to make it work and the TV tuner on the TV is much superior. I can believe why Humax didn't want to put their name on the outside. Multi room subscription finishes today so thought it best to install it in the bedroom for the wife.įirst impressions. I bought it and then got a sky deal so it just stayed in its box. I have just installed a new one of these which I bought in 2015. There's no real reason to have 1080p on this box as it only (currently) receives 1080i broadcasts as far as i know.Īlso the 1080p setting is more of an auto mode and on the older box at least sometimes gets it wrong causing loss of handshake and blank screen.Īlso also.Apologies to resurrect this thread. "Could be worth trying setting the box to output 1080i instead of 1080p Here's the suggestion and reasoning ( any thoughts on this?): Tempting the 'Kiss of Death', I have to say that I haven't had a blank screen on HDMI 1 since doing this. to set the HDMI output of the DTR-T2100 to 1080i. I have also followed another suggestion i.e. It seems to be stable since the second Factory Reset. I had to do a full power off of the TV to rectify this. It completely locked up once where the only button on the TV control that would work was the on/off button (standby actually). This has been done twice as the first time resulted in the TV being quite unstable. The Sony Bravia TV has also had a Full Factory Reset. I have still been having failures since the Internet/USB Recovery of the DTR-T2100. If it's a Sony to Humax compatibility issue this might not be conclusive. It may be worth swapping the TVs but as it's an intermittent problem it's not clear how long I would have to do this for. The only other TV I have is a 19" Sony TV. ![]() I may have already tried this but not sure. I will try putting the TV in standby and out again the next time it happens. If it does turn out the box has a hardware fault (which is sounding quite likely) then take it back to where you bought it from and get them to sort it. What happens if instead of switching away from HDMI 1 (or whatever) on the TV and back again you put the TV into standby then back on? That should trigger a round of HDMI handshaking and might get the YouView box to display a picture.Īlso do you have another telly you could temporarily try the box on? Just to see if it is the box (ie it does the same thing on any TV) or if there is some odd falling out between the box and the TV it is normally connected to. I have proved that the 'Tuner 1' at the top centre of the black screen on the TV is coming from the Youview Box, so there is connectivity over the HDMI connection in the failure condition. I have tried switching away from HDMI 1 and back again on the TV without success. The Youview Box doesn't have any display at all. "Does the front panel display show the current channel name a minute or two after turning on?" - Is this on the TV or the Youview Box. The box was not sourced directly from BT so I'm not sure that they would be at all interested in my problem. It is appreciated.Ī reset has worked most times but the problem has obviously re-occurred. Does the front panel display show the current channel name a minute or two after turning on? Try switching the TV away from then back to HDMI1 (which I assume is what the Youview box is connected to). Get them to swap it out for a new one.Įdit: Could be an HDMI handshaking problem with your TV set. If you have already tried a reset or several than looks like faulty hardware.
