![]() They're far from selling out to a single platform. There's the whole backstory with Dante the anti-hero, his relationship with Vergil, their mother, Sparda, and Mundus. 3 Devil May Cry: There's More To Its Lore That said, while DMC might seem shallow and misogynistic, there's a ton more to it beneath the surface. ![]() Platinum has made games for every platform be it Playstation, PC, Xbox, Nintendo and even currently making a mobile game. That didn't change with Bayonetta 2 and likely won't with Bayonetta 3. Without Nintendo there wouldn't be Bayonetta 2 and 3, since SEGA stopped funding of Bayonetta 2, which Nintendo helped continuing. Platinum doesn't care what platform they make a game for, they just need money to make the games they want, which means relying on publishers, and the publishers also have the say on the platforms (hell, Bayonetta was planned to be Xbox exclusive because of the studio's lack of rescources making them want to focus on just one platform, but the SEGA team ported the game to PS3 for them, so they didn't have to, and last year to PC as well). It's more like Nintendo offering to fund a game that SEGA wouldn't, rather than selling their soul to Nintendo. The balance of familiar but fresh gameplay is even more important in the hack and slash genre, and games like Bayonetta and Devil May Cry continually add new mechanics with each new game. Bayonetta has surpassed it with its selection of combos, super-refined combat and imaginative weapons, but DMC3 is still terrific funand by far the highlight of this.
